About
Welcome to my blog!
I’ll never forget how overjoyed and ecstatic I was when my very first piece of pottery came out of the kiln! I had found an unexpected craft that thrilled me, and even though that pot was heavy, fat, lacking any real definable shape and showcased just how much practice I was going to need to make anything anyone else saw as beautiful…I had never seen anything more beautiful in my life! At that moment I knew I would have my hands in clay the rest of my life.
I can’t say exactly what it is about pottery that is so intoxicating to me. It could be the connection to the earth, the calming and meditative trance I go into when the wheel is spinning and the clay is slipping through my fingers, the way I catch myself holding my breath in anticipation of the form, the fire, the way transformation takes place.. It’s all of that and so much more.
One of my hero’s and spiritual mentors M.C Richards said it best I think:
“It is the physicality of the crafts that pleases me: I learn through my hands and my eyes and my skin what I could never learn through my brain.”
That is why I keep coming back to clay. I’m on a deep personal, intellectual and spiritual journey and the clay always leads me to new joy, realizations and a deeping of my connection to the mother earth, the cycles of life and to my own divinity as creator of these humble pots and of my own life.
So I invite you to join me in exploring the themes of creativity, healing, joy, inspiration and the numinous nature of making art. I look forward to getting to know you!

Thanks so much Amy! You inspire ME…everyday.
where do you find the time to do pots, blogs & everything else??
I actually haven’t thrown a pot in a couple of months…it’s a constant ebb and flow…but I always make time for things that bring me joy!
